HOW THE PME FOUNDATION HAS HELPED

Promethean Boards

The PME foundation made a significant investment by helping to outfit every classroom with a Promethean board. These interactive whiteboards replace traditional chalkboards and allow teachers to display digital lessons, videos, and other engaging content. Promethean boards encourage interaction and promote a more collaborative learning environment where students can participate actively and solve problems together.

"The Promethean Boards are great.  I can see them from my chair and are easier to read.  We use them every day.  We use them for Math and watch videos.  We recently watched a tour of the International Space Station."

"I like that it comes with a pen and you can draw on it and you can set a timer for how long you want to do something."

"I like that you can pull things up and move things around with your fingers. It's very smart!"

"The board is way faster and so we can get our work done quicker."

Teacher Training

Responsive Classroom teacher training equips our teachers with the tools and knowledge to support a positive, supporting learning environment that fosters social-emotional learning alongside academic skills. The PME Foundation has supported this initiative by funding in-person training and interactive workshops necessary this to bring these practices into the classroom.

Teachers thoughts on using the Responsive Classroom model:

“Responsive Classroom has helped me manage my classroom routines in a way that minimizes conflict, fosters student independence, and builds student confidence.”

“This training gave me fresh ideas that could really energize my students at times of transition.”

“Responsive Classroom has taught me how I can support students in their social-emotional and academic growth journey in a way that builds their confidence and intrinsic motivation.”

“I love using RC because I get a chance to get to know my students on a more personal level during Morning Meeting and allows for practice in using social skills.”

Facility Improvements

Wake County Public School System manages 119 elementary schools serving over 85,000 students! With that kind of demand, it can be difficult to always secure the necessary resources needed to invest in facility improvements. This is where the PME Foundation has stepped in to fund the type of projects that enhance the learning environment at our school. This has recently included new interior painting, purchasing books for the library, upgraded window treatments and improvements to the school grounds.
